one of the tape cassette collectors, an opinion about a gigs & the development of a metal scene

on this occasion I will discuss about a unique hobby done by one of my friend Feri ferdian (FaceBook : feri ferdian), he has a hobby of collecting tape cassettes & also CDs from metal bands both from abroad and in the country, tape cassettes from 60's rock bands to tape bands DIY for the moment to be a private collection in the order in a special box. on one occasion I did a short interview about his hobby & for you the tape or CD collector might be able to ask him directly about what his collection.

Hello, very happy I can do an interview with one who has a hobby of collecting tapes & CDs from antiquity until now, can be told since when did you start doing the collection ?
hello too, very glad I can join the enliven the content in this blog, for the first cassette collection I remember is a cassette tape that was released by a play studio for children, then I was still in grade 3 in a primary school. while for the first rock or metal cassette of my collection & I listened to it from the helloween album "the time of the oath" that circulated in the range of 1996, before I also have some cassette collection from metal bands like sepultura.

have you always had the intention to make your collection tapes as a material for collection ?
not really, because since the first time I had no intention to make my cassettes or CDs as a material for a collection, I am just a music lover which means I will only buy albums from bands I like

maybe you can tell me a little about any genre that becomes your collection
maybe my collection is all genre, though i prefer to collect tapes or CDs from metal bands, i also keep cassettes from pop, jazz or blues bands

I see from some of your collection is the original goods from abroad, can be told about it ?
for tapes collection from overseas I get it from several things, like I sometimes entrust to buy to friends who are traveling abroad, in addition I also sometimes hunt for cassette or CD band that I was looking for from the site amazon or ebay , I myself have a small group of friends from one hobby ie those who collect tapes or CDs, from this group we can all share info about everything about the collection.

his time the music industry is dimming along with the fewer bands that released the album in physical form, do you have a little idea for the revival of the music industry, especially in our
country ?
the first may be a band must make music & do a recording that is really good quality, packaging for CD album also must be contrived interesting because usually cover is also used as one marketing sales, take advantage of the amount of social media to expand network and promotion & each band should be able to account for their work in live performance. make a strategy let the audience can be interested to buy your band album

what do you think about bands that currently prefer to throw their recordings for free download content in all social media ?
I think it's fine, it all depends on how the band wants to do, but in my opinion a work in physical form remains unchanged & now the physical release for a band is as a real benchmark in an achievement. of course "aesthetics" a physical release of higher degree than a release that is free in the machines download

it is now very difficult to get a tape tape, especially from bands that have been included in the historic band count, from where you can get it
I hunted more from online sales sites, social media, music events, record store day events & more that I got with a barter system

of the many cassettes / CDs of your collection, roughly from whatever bands are your favorites & maybe you can tell the difficulty level when you hunt for the band's album
I have a favorite tape of the pink floyd band in their first album "the piper at the gates of dawn" which album was released in 1967, besides that I also have favorite CD from band Mr.Bungle also original CD from nirvana. while the most difficult CD I get is from the band entombed album "wolverine blues" which was released in 1993, difficult in terms of getting the album in a cheap price

Currently in Indonesia is busy event Record Store Day, do you think this is purely a business between collectors or indeed a bridge for the collectors of physical release ?, given the current generation is not so interested with the physical release
according to my pure business, without any event record store day music lovers can still find albums from the band they are looking through the internet. many bands also release albums when there is an event, although only limited momentum & often bands are selling with special price when in the event. event store store day is quite appealing to the latest generation of physical release, even though it just came to see the event.

from your current hobby will one day be a business land ?
at this time I have not thought to make as a business land, because at this time my collection there are in & out there, although still within the limits between collectors. basically I'm just a music connoisseur & love the physical releases of many bands

do you have a band ?
coincidentally I also have a band that plays death metal genre, I myself can be regarded as one of the trash metal genre fans also death metal oldschool. although my band plays death metal but in our influence explores almost all genres including hardcore

you often come in a gigs both inside town and out of town, what ideal gigs do you think that is like ?
maybe I came in an event that I happen to like some band performing, so not all my events come. the musical event sold is about the audio or sound system generated in the stage, then the size of the event or gigs should be supported with a sound system that matches the capacity of the event. which is often ignored by event organizers & is very frequent, fans are willing to pay admission to watch their idol bands, but when they find that the event is not supported by a good sound then the result will be very disappointing. so appreciate the audience

the development of metal bands from our own city ?
quite a lot of metal bands are popping up, but the genre that is played still-that's it, I always wait for a band from our city that plays genre doom, sludge, trash metal, heavy metal or maybe shoegaze.

is it ideal if every music scene in our city often make event ?
the ideal is possible interval 2-3 months, but to be said ideal or not it depends on the quality of the event itself, when the band present-that's it then what impact is generated ?, the audience would also be bored with every event that present only bands that's all. if talking about metal, metal is expensive & ekslusive music then make a good event also interesting. no need to doubt about the lag time of the month or year, if the event is interesting then until whenever will always be awaited.

Thank you for this brief interview, hopefully your band will get better with high flying hours & hopefully the collection will also increase
thanks again, hopefully this blog can be consistent in proclaiming the development of music in our city to the whole world. hail!

finally completed also a brief interview for the content of this blog, coincidentally when doing interviews I come at night, while accompanied by snacks & warm coffee while occasionally tells about ghosts that inhabit the front house hahahahahaa. thank you for reading my content this time
